Saldaea is the westernmost of the four Borderlands. It lies in between Arad Doman and Kandor. Maradon is the capital. Saldaea is perhaps the richest of the borderland nations, its ice peppers, furs and minerals bringing in large sums of funds.

The nation of Kandor is one of the four nations of the Borderlands, lying between Saldaea and Arafel. The capital Chachin lies near the northern border, just south of the Plain of Lances.

Arad Doman is a coastal nation in the north-west of the main continent, lying between the Aryth Ocean on the west and the Mountains of Mist in the east. The capital of Arad Doman is the city of Bandar Eban.

Illian is a powerful merchant nation north of the Sea of Storms, with a capital city of the same name. Illian is bordered by Murandy, Altara, and Far Madding.

The nation of Tarabon was formed after the demise of Artur Hawkwing's empire. The capital of Tarabon is the city of Tanchico and is ruled by a male king and female Panarch. Tarabon is bordered by Ghealdan, Amadicia, Andor, and the shadow coast.

Andor is strongest single nation in the Westlands, the capital of Andor is the city of Caemlyn. It is landlocked, being bordered by a number of nations, many rivaling Andor in power.

Ghealdan is a relatively minor country, known for its production of alum. The capital is the city of Jehannah where the ruler sits advised by the Crown High Council.

Mayene is a small but wealthy city-state, historically dominated by its powerful neighbor Tear. Mayene is bordered by Tear and Far Madding. Mayene's leader has always had to be quick in political games to keep it standing by itself.

This is the threefold land, the home of the Aiel and one of the harshest places to live on earth. No one but Tinkers and select merchants dare travel through this hard land. Within this land thirteen clans fight one another and have done so for centuries.

The world of dreams is as real as any land, perhaps more dangerous than it too. Any person might enter it, but only for a second, it takes an ability or a particular ter'angreal to visit it. Mastery of it is harder than actually getting in, though, and many people will die in it.

It has often been said that the pen is mightier than the sword and to a certain extent it is quite true. A single soldier with a sword will not turn a battle, but the proper alliance made through the exchange of letters always will. . . All letters are not so serious though, this is after all one of the main ways to communicate.
